South of 45

This last weekend we had our final day's shoot for the music documentary Mr. S and I have been working on. The photo below was taken by one of the musicians when we recorded at his house. I'm not really an audio technician, but I can fake it when necessary.

The program is called South of 45 (Like us on Facebook!), and we got our posse together for a final gig at the now-closed Dexter Lake Club (which I wrote about here).

The shoot was dope, as in really good! As Production Assistant, I was in charge of catering, supplying Coke (with a capital C), and generally running around and finding the gaffer tape. My fabulous niece Lisa took photos (she shoots her husband Kenji's blog, which is one of the best men's blogs I've seen).

Here are the bands we worked with.

Hyding Jekyll - funk metal grunge

REFA - upbeat, complex, really really tight

Alexander DiGrazia - poetic lyrics and gentle guitar

So, that was a rocking long day on Saturday, and Sunday we had a Wrap Party at our house.

Then Monday I started working full time again. It's gainful employment and a total shock to the system. I've got a temporary job, about 4 or 5 months, but at least it's steady money. I'll be editing, proofreading and blah, blah, blah. I wasn't getting much traction as a freelancer but, of course, I'm getting inquiries now. Typical. I may soon be really busy working days and evenings, and Mr. S has also got some paying work coming up. We may have a few bucks yet for retirement someday.

The new job is near the university, and there are some nice walks for my break times.

And the weather here is ridiculously mild - look at this:

If you live in the northeast of North America, you might want to consider moving to western Oregon!

Linky Lamour

Wouldn't that be a great name for a moll - Linky Lamour?

I'm not really back from my break, but since the new issue of VOGOFF is out (YES!!!!!) I had to make a brief appearance. Melanie and Miz Bagg have outdone themselves! You can find the new issue at the link above or by clicking on the cover image at the right of my blog. Go! Check! It! Out!

And I want to add another link here - my handsome nephew-in-law has started his own fashion blog - The Style Eclectic - and my niece is doing the photography. So, Go. Check. It. Out!

And I've added a new diorama to my Marketplace - a fairy house! You'll have to scroll all the way to the bottom, but here are some teasers. Also, I will accept international buyers if you have a credit card or PayPal account (you can use your credit card with PayPal even without an account). And if you're willing to pay whatever the postage is. In some cases they require your first-born.

Later, Linky!

'Tovers

In my house we usually have leftovers for lunch. Mr. S calls them 'tovers. Since I've been lax about planning new and flamboyantly entertaining posts, I'm going to use up a few 'tovers.

First, here's Kenji again. I'm encouraging him to do his own blog, but he said if he did that he'd do a street-style type blog. However, I think he needs to start taking selfies and posting them. I can't be there every day!

His purple plaid shirt looked really sharp with white jeans. And of course, his cool sunglasses. I don't know what any of the brands are - that's why Kenji needs to do his own blog.

The rest of these pictures were taken a couple of weeks ago when I went on a "sales trip." I thought I'd see if I could get a shop to sell my crafty boxes (see here and here and here and here). No one wanted them right now, although the place shown below said to come back after they've moved to a new location.

Unfortunately, the old house is falling apart - you can see the holes in the ceiling.

But what a cool place! I love big old houses. And little old houses.

upstairs - I'm wearing my thrifted SToned skirt. I had the place to myself. I may have jumped on the beds.

This was in a small town just north of Eugene - Coburg - which is brimming with cute old houses and an abundance of antique shops.

This one was empty, but what a lovely old building!

I got some good advice about selling my wares, and that was to do it myself. With the shops adding a mark-up, I wouldn't really get much if they sold. So, when I get around to it, I'm going to add a For Sale tab to my blog. Besides the boxes, there may be some clothes and shoes to sell, so watch this space!

In the meantime, I've got some freelance work lined up! I'll be writing marketing proposals, not editing lovely art books and magazines, but I'm my own boss. I'm also my own employee, so if I slack off I have to write that up for my HR file.

Have a good week, and be nice to your co-workers!

Oops, I did it again

Remember last month when I posted pictures of my nephew-in-law Kenji when we had a family get-together (Easter)? Well, here are some more photos of my nephew-in-law Kenji at another family get-together (Mother's Day).

I was trying to crowd in on his hipness then, too.

His vest, which his mother sent him from Japan, has a striped back and striped lining in the pockets. The label actually says "University of Oxford." Maybe they're branching out to make some extra money?

Remember in my last post when I was wearing a red dress? Here I am wearing another red dress. I bought both dresses the same day at the thrift store, so I'm linking up - again - to Secondhand First at Citizen Rosebud. I'm just going around in circles here!

Since the dress is red, I'm also linking up with Share-in-Style: Red at Mis Papelicos.

I wore the leopard-print cardi to work twice that week, and then again on the weekend. Madness!

Remember when I told you about my blogger meet-up in my last post? I'm on my way to another one!

It's just like Groundhog Day, lasting all week.
